Filmmaker Challenges

IFP Phoenix holds Filmmaker Challenges each year that are designed to provide an opportunity for Arizona Filmmakers to increase their skills and abilities. Each challenge:

  • As a team leader, you sign up your team for the challenge. Your team members and equipment are up to you.
  • At kickoff, you get the guidelines for that challenge and you and your team to create a short film (5-6 minutes or less, depending on the challenge).
  • We’ll screen all films submitted on the BIG screen- even those submitted AFTER the deadline (although only films submitted on time are eligible for competition and late films still must be turned in before screening blu-ray is made)
  • Offers remote Kickoff!  Live in Sedona, Tucson, Flagstaff, or even Bisbee? Join us! In person is always more fun, but we’re flexible. Submission is remote! Save your gas, submit online digitally!

IFP Phoenix is proud to present the 2021 season of challenges!

The 240 to Glory Challenge!

Film challenges are back at IFP Phoenix! Rather than our usual 48 hour summer challenge, we wanted to give filmmakers a bit more time as we get back to the world of making films together. So this 10 day (240 hours!) challenge is still going to be short enough that it’s a wild ride, but still gives filmmakers a couple weekends to take their time. We take entries up until the day of the challenge or until we meet our team capacity of 25. This challenge kicks off virtually, Thursday, June 17th, 2021.

2021 Breakout Challenge

This film challenge is a month long and is geared towards getting our filmmakers’ work out into the world as they compete for free film festival submissions! Teams can sign up until the day of the challenge or we meet our team capacity of 20.

We hope to be bringing this back in the fall of 2021!
